Read the work of other writers.
Don’t let this be an exercise that brings you down. Every writer started at the beginning.
I can say with almost complete certainty that every good writer also learnt through actively reading. By practising active reading, you will improve on the basics: spelling, punctuation, grammar, etc. You will also pick up on more complex concepts like tone, phrasing, layout, pattern, tempo, suspense, plot, character development, etc.
When you read in a manner that actively sets out to learn from the text, you will also quickly notice things that you don’t know or mistakes you have been making. Write these down and research them, as these are moments of pivotal importance for your writing journey.
