Passport (Inkober Day 7)

Today’s Inktober prompt is “Passport.”

“Passport to the future,” “Your passport to adventure,” “Your passport to health,” …

There seem to be “passports” at every turn. What may feel like a fantastic opportunity for one person might not be the perfect fit for you.

If you are truly looking for a passport to something in your life, it may help to dissect what a passport actually is so that when an opportunity presents itself, you can assess whether it is truly a passport or simply another marketing campaign aimed at pulling you in.

So, let’s look at what a passport is.

A passport is a formal document issued by an authorized official of a country to one of its citizens. It is usually necessary for exit from and reentry into the country. A passport allows the holder to travel in a foreign country in accordance with visa requirements and requests protection for the citizen while abroad.

Now, let’s see how this can translate to good deals and opportunities.

When you are faced with a potentially great offer, a passport to a “great time,” “health,” “better looks,” “marketing heaven,” or anything else, it’s wise to weigh it against the criteria for an actual passport:

-Does the offer have a sense of formality to it?

-Does the business or company hold status or respect in the industry?

-Will this deal grant you access to a new service, product, or insight that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to access?

-If you are not happy with the product or service, is there an option to return it? (Re-entry to the country of origin.)

-Are there terms and conditions in place to protect you, the consumer (traveler), while you use the “passport”?

If the deal you are interested in stands against all of the above, it may well be the passport you are looking for to take you to the next level or a new area of your life that you are keen on.

Have fun and be wise out there, and happy traveling. 🙂
