Guidebook (Inktober Day 15)

The prompt for today is “Guidebook”

In this article, I will give you a guidebook for writing blog posts. Over the years, I have picked up a few really useful tips and tricks for writing outstanding posts that get noticed and rank highly.

Use this mini guidebook when writing your own blog articles and you will see an increase engagement with your content.

Let’s dive into it.

  1. Create compelling headlines. Headlines are the hook for your article. Make them enticing and accurate. Do not mislead the reader with false promises of what is to come in the article.
  2. If you are writing an SEO article, write an introduction that includes the same words as the headline. This will show the bots you are writing about what the headline promises.
  3. Break your blog post into sections and begin each section with a subheading.
  4. Whenever possible, use bullet points, tables, graphs, and images to make your paragraphs more interesting.
  5. Never, EVER copy and paste content from other articles. Not only is it plagiarism (which is illegal), but it is also way below you. You have what it takes to research the topic you are writing about and to write it in your own unique way.
  6. Finish your article off with a snippy conclusion. Your conclusion should be around three sentences long and should be a short summary of what the rest of the post contains.
  7. Remember to add your own flavour to your writing. Yes, you are including facts and following a brief, but when you can add an anecdote or joke (brand voice permitting) it will lend a human element to your work and give it that special touch that will make your clients keep coming back for more.

Enjoy your blog article writing! There are really so many little tips I could give you, but I think these are some of my favourites and should help make quite a difference.

The most important aspect of writing….? Have FUN! Having love for what you do permeates through your work and your readers will pick up on it time and again!

Happy writing!
